2017: Awarded Competence Network for eInclusion and Assistive Technologies proposal for Funding by National Research Fund (NRF), Kenya. Where we have attracted and Won a grant of 17 Million Kenya Shillings from the NRF.
2018: Awarded the Computer Science / Information Systems Mini Grant of 1.5 Million Kenya Shillings after winning in the area of Big Data in the proposal “Real Time Surveillance of Crop Pests and Disease Using Deep Learning Techniques” by KENET
INNOVATIONS
Invented a Mobile Application and Web Interface (Tunza Leaf) that is able to detect plant pests and diseases through Convolution Neural Network Modeling powered by TensorFlow Big Data analytics interface
Extended a software interface that Detects Human Facial Expressions to serve as an input device to be used by learners living with physical disabilities, by developing a Camera Mouse that detects facial features as input device to a computer working as a mouse.
Assembled a Flip Mouse Device that extends the functionalities of the human mouth and breathing impacts as an input device.
